TDM Plantation donated to Terengganu Wild Elephant Management Fund

TDM Plantation recently donated to Terengganu Wild Elephant Management Fund to jointly address the threat of encroachments by wild elephants into plantations areas. The donation was presented by TDM Plantation Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tuan Haji Mohd Ghozali Yahaya to Terengganu Agriculture, Food Industry, Plantations, Commodities, and Rural Development Committee Chairman YB Dr. Azman Ibrahim at Wisma Darul Iman.

This contribution is in line with TDM’s “Living Together with Elephants” initiative to find ways to overcome wild elephant encroachments at our estates in Kemaman and Setiu. It is also a knowledge and research insights sharing platform on wild elephant management with several company representatives of the same industry.

TDM is actively innovating initiatives to mitigate Human-Elephant Conflict (HEC). Among the initiatives are the use of beehives and electric fences, as well as an upcoming joint effort with the Department of Wildlife and National Parks to install satellite collars onto wild elephants to monitor their movements in the area. We also seek support from the local indigenous people to monitor areas with frequent encroachments for immediate preventive measures.
