18 July 2021 – TDM Plantation (TDMP) today organised Hearing Conservation and SOHELP Programme via the Microsoft Team platform as part of its Safety Day Programme for 2021 to raise awareness on emerging operational risks resulted from noise, chemical and ergonomic hazards while enhancing the knowledge profile of its very own on-the-ground employees of occupational safety and health in the workplace. This virtual knowledge engagement session was officiated by TDMP Chief Executive Officer Tuan Haji Mohd Ghozali Yahaya and graced by Terengganu Department of Safety and Health (DOSH) Director YBhg Tuan Mohd Zahri Hitam, Operation Deputy Director Tuan Mohammad Nizam Ali, and Technical Services Deputy Director Tuan Haji Ahamad Yani Mohamad.
Participants, consisting of estates and mills staff across Terengganu, first went through insightful topics revolving around workplace noise control and steps that can be taken to effectively and efficiently control the noise in the workplace. After that, they delved into the Systematic Occupational Health Enhancement Level Programme (SOHELP), a systemic intervention learning tool to help enhance industrial hygiene standards at our operational working areas.
TDM has been promoting ways to foster a safety culture more effectively by encouraging employees to consider themselves the “key person” in supporting a safe and sound working environment. Today’s programme is indeed a significant push in realising a genuine safety culture through the involvement of our employees. We would like to thank the organising committee for making today’s session a success despite the restrictions presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.
