PT Rafi Extended Flood Relief Support to Affected Community of Melawi

07 November 2021 – Flash floods from torrential rains in several parts of East Java and West Kalimantan resulting from the La Nina weather phenomenon have displaced many families, taken innocent lives, damaged and submerged countless houses. The situation puts the entire economy of these provinces to a standstill and inundates the affected locals as they dwell about where their next meal will come from.

As an immediate relief response, PT Rafi Kamajaya Abadi (PT Rafi), a subsidiary of TDM Berhad in Indonesia, has stepped forward and donated dry ration packs consisting of rice, instant noodles, cereals, and canned sardine, as well as bottled drinking water to the communities in Melawi district of West Kalimantan. These relief packs were recently distributed to nine badly affected villages by a group of volunteers led by PT Rafi President Director Mr. Vijayakumar Sambanthar, namely Pemuar, Menunuk, Baru, Suka Damai, Nanga Belimbing, Melamut, Sepantonak, Tapang Ria and Batu Ampar, with approximately 1,195 families benefiting from the extended aids. The company also provided financial assistance to a total of 38 staff whose houses were either ravaged or submerged by the floods. 

TDM Berhad applaud PT Rafi for mobilising the immediate emergency relief efforts, showcasing solidarity and extending a helping hand to the vulnerable groups in Melawi.
