TDM Builds 712 Units of Employee Housing

TDM Berhad (TDM), through its wholly owned subsidiary, TDM Plantation Sdn. Bhd. (“TDMP”), proudly inaugurated 56 brand-new housing units for workers, symbolising remarkable progress in the overall project, in which a total of 712 housing units will be fully completed in phases over a period of five years.

YAB Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, the highly esteemed Menteri Besar of Terengganu, presided over the momentous occasion of handing over the house keys to the recipients and was also accompanied by YBM Tengku Seri Bijaya Raja (Dato’ Seri Tengku Farok Hussin Tengku Abdul Jalil), the Terengganu State Secretary and Chairman of TDM Berhad, Haji Najman Kamaruddin, the Executive Director of TDM, and Encik Hamdan Ibrahim, the Chief Executive Officer of TDMP.

At the onset, TDMP managed a total of 2,176 staff housing units, each featuring only two rooms. With a commitment to elevating the well-being of its workforce, TDMP initiated a meticulous plan to renovate and reconstruct the existing housing units. Commencing on October 20, 2021, the construction project, divided into four phases, is progressing steadily, with an allocated budget of RM70 million dedicated to house construction. As of today, TDMP is proud to announce the successful completion of 56 house units, with an additional 24 units currently undergoing construction. Looking ahead, the company aims to construct an additional 200 house units within the current year. The comprehensive replacement project is set to encompass a total of 712 housing units, with a targeted completion timeframe of five years.

With a strong emphasis on adhering to the highest construction standards, TDMP has taken proactive measures to ensure that the housing units surpass the requirements outlined in Act 446, known as the “Minimum Standards of Housing, Accommodation, and Employee Facilities Act 1990.” In line with its dedication to employee welfare, TDMP has taken the initiative to create comfortable living spaces that exceed the stipulated conditions. Each SemiD house spans an impressive 1,000 square feet, offering ample room for a truly comfortable experience. The meticulously constructed houses boast three (3) bedrooms, one (1) utility room, two (2) bathrooms, a wellequipped kitchen, spacious living and dining areas, as well as convenient parking facilities. Furthermore, TDMP’s commitment to holistic development extends beyond the housing units themselves. The project maximizes the abundant green open spaces by integrating recreational facilities for the community. These amenities, including playgrounds, football fields, and dedicated recreational areas, enhance the overall quality of life for both employees and their families.

This housing project symbolises TDMP’s progressive approach and its determination to prioritise the well-being of its staff and employees. TDMP remains steadfast in its mission to upgrade the lives of its workers, and the achievement through this project marks a significant step towards fulfilling that objective. The Inauguration and handover of house keys at Ladang Jaya, Sungai Tong, received the attendance of nearly 500 guests, consisting of Board Members, management staff, as well as community and corporate agencies in the surrounding area.
