“Sustainability Rising Star Award” Affirms TDM’S Commitment to Uphold UNSDGs and ESG Standards

TDM Berhad , listed as a Shariah-compliant security company on Bursa Malaysia’s main market, primarily engaged in oil palm plantation and healthcare, proudly
announced its reception of the Sustainability Rising Star Award at the Asia Corporate Excellence and Sustainability (ACES) 2023 Awards held on 24th November 2023 at Kuala Lumpur’s Mandarin Oriental Hotel.

The acknowledgment of the Sustainability Rising Star Award stands as proof of TDM’s unwavering commitment to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs), comprising 17 goals that serve as benchmarks for development and sustainability. This recognition aligns seamlessly with the company’s dedication to supporting Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives.

The ACES Council’s meticulous selection process acknowledges TDM’s outstanding dedication to environmentally sustainable business operations. Representing the company at the Asia Corporate Excellence and Sustainability Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner were Dr. Rayney Azmi Ali, CEO of Medic Iman Group Sdn. Bhd. (KMI Healthcare), and Encik Hasnol Zariman Mohd Hashim, Head of Investment Performance Monitoring at TDM.

Established in 1965, TDM operates with holistic core values and Shariah compliance, encompassing good governance, high innovation, integrity, environmental friendliness, and a people-centric approach. The company’s commitment to sustainable practices is evident through its adherence to Malaysian and international standards, including certifications from the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) and Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO).

TDM’s RSPO certification, held since 2013, symbolizes responsible oil palm cultivation and sustainable palm oil production, aligning with global sustainability standards. In the healthcare sector, TDM maintains high quality services by strictly adhering to Good Distribution Practices (GDP), ensuring pharmaceutical and medical product activities meet the highest benchmarks set by the Ministry of Health.

A notable accomplishment in 2023 contributing to the ACES 2023 recognition is the inauguration of two groundbreaking biogas plants in Sungai Tong and Kemaman, Terengganu. These plants, each boasting a 2 MW electricity generation capacity, make significant contributions to the national grid. Additionally, TDM’s commitment is evident through the initiative to transition from fluorescent to energy-efficient Light Emitting Diode (LED) lamps in corporate offices, resulting in a commendable 16.6% reduction in net greenhouse gas emissions in 2022.

The company continues to explore initiatives supporting UNSDGs and ESG, aiming to make a positive impact on well-being and environmental sustainability.
