The monsoon season that hit Terengganu has caused weather instability as well as affecting the main source of income for local residents, especially fishermen. Committed to its corporate social responsibility, TDM through the TDM Cakna program, has taken the initiative to provide assistance to 100 fishermen in the Marang area affected by this monsoon season.
The TDM Cakna program, held at Dewan Tok Guru in Marang, was officially inaugurated by YB Dato’ Haji Mohd Nor Hamzah, Speaker of the Terengganu State Legislative Assembly who is also the ADUN of Bukit Payong together with Ustaz Yusuf Abdul Hadi, Advisor for NGO Cakna Nelayan Marang and Tuan Haji Hasan Awang, Director of DUN Rhu Rendang Action Council. En. Hamdan Ibrahim, Chief Executive Officer of TDM Plantation Sdn. Bhd, along with the TDM management, were also in attendance to welcome and provide aid to the recipients.
TDM’s hope is that the donated aid will, to some extent, lighten the burden on the affected fishermen, offering them the necessary support to navigate through the challenges posed by the recent adverse weather. The company is optimistic that this contribution will empower the fishermen, providing them with the strength to face the upcoming obstacles.
