KMI Kuantan Medical Centre Celebrates Silver Jubilee – 25 Years of Operational Excellence

KMI Kuantan Medical Center (KMI Kuantan) organised its Silver Jubilee celebration, commemorating its magnificent 25 years of operations and accomplishments. Hosted at Hyatt Regency Kuantan Resort, this grand anniversary celebration also distinguished the hospital’s outstanding achievement of emerging as the first hospital under Kumpulan Medic Iman Sdn. Bhd. (KMI Healthcare), the Healthcare Division of TDM Berhad, to receive full accreditation from the Malaysian Society for Quality in Health (MSQH) back in September.

At the event, MSQH Corporate Affairs, Finance, and International Relations Executive Manager Encik Saifulhazmi Salihin handed over the Certificate of Accreditation to KMI Kuantan General Manager Encik Muhammad Ghazali Zainal Yusof, witnessed by TDM Chairman Yang Berhormat Mulia Tengku Seri Bijaya Raja Datuk Tengku Farok Hussin Tengku Abdul Jalil, TDM Executive Director Haji Najman Kamaruddin, KMI Healthcare Chief Executive Officer Dr. Rayney Azmi Ali, KMI Kuantan Chairman Dato’ Haji Zainal Abidin Hussin, and KMI Kuantan Medical Director Prof. Dr. Mokhtar Awang.

Also present to commemorate the anniversary celebration and MSQH accreditation were TDM, KMI Healthcare, and KMI Kuantan Board of Directors and senior management teams.

Since its inception on 26 December 1996 and full operations in the following year, KMI Kuantan has evolved into an MSQH-accredited community-based specialist hospital with a capacity of 176 beds, offering high-quality treatment and healthcare. Its offerings will be further elevated through the construction of its new wing on a 2.5-acre land with an estimated Gross Development Value (GDV) of RM100 million, housing 80 additional beds, 500 parking bays, and other contemporary facilities.

On top of its existing services covering main medical disciplines, KMI Kuantan also focuses on diversifying its treatment and healthcare offerings by introducing more comprehensive services, like the Catheterisation Lab (Cath Lab), to the community, in line with the current changes and needs.

The recently introduced Eye Treatment Center complements other existing services, including the Orthopedic and Spine Centre as well as the Cardiac Centre, which is currently in the process of being upgraded to a Centre of Excellence (“CoE”). There will be five more additions of CoEs at KMI Kuantan in the coming years and this bodes well for the hospital’s ongoing patient-centric initiative.

YBM Tengku Seri Bijaya Raja, in his speech, applauded KMI Kuantan for continuously being the biggest contributor to the overall performance of the Group’s Healthcare Division. He also emphasised the importance of KMI Healthcare’s and its hospitals’ involvement in empowering the nation’s health sector as it remains one of the main agendas of the Malaysian Government.

Apart from KMI Kuantan also manages four other community-centred specialist hospitals, namely KMI Kuala Terengganu Medical Center (KMI Kuala Terengganu), KMI Kelana Jaya Medical Center (KMI Kelana Jaya), KMI Taman Desa Medical Center (KMI Taman Desa) and KMI Tawau Medical Center (KMI Tawau).
