TDM successfully held a National Training Week (NTW) 2024 event from 24 to 30 June 2024. Today, in conjunction with Pillar 5 – Sustainable Development – a special seminar titled “Integrated Pest Management in Oil Palm Plantation” was conducted at TDM Academy, Sungai Tong. Mr. Hamdan Ibrahim, Chief Executive Officer of TDM Plantation Sdn Bhd, attended to share his plantation experience and officiate the seminar’s closing.
This knowledge-sharing seminar involved 50 participants, comprising students from Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), smallholders, and plantation industry players from the Sungai Tong area.
The program began with the planting of 200 Turnera Ulmifolia and Turnera Subulata trees, led by Mr. Zahari Jusoh, Assistant Manager of Tayor Estate and winner of the “Most Trees Planted” award organized by Terengganu Inc. Following that, participants received exposure to pest management in oil palm plantations, including a demonstration on preparing pest control equipment, delivered by Mr. Asraf Muhammad, Head of Research & Plantation Services Department.
It is hoped that this seminar will benefit participants in tackling pest issues in oil palm plantations—an important challenge that requires ongoing attention.
